RuckPostBot
If you found RuckPostBot in your server logs, this page explains exactly what it is and how to stop it. No form to fill in, no support ticket.
What it does
Ruck Post is an independent weekly newsletter covering genuine markdowns on quality gear. Our crawler reads publicly-available product and sale pages across the 172 brands we cover and records the price and availability of listed items so we can tell readers whether a “40% off” is real. We keep every reading, which is how we spot a price that was quietly raised before a sale.
What it does not do
It respects robots.txt
We fetch and cache your robots.txt before every request. A disallow means we never request that path — we do not route around it, and we do not use a proxy or residential IP service to evade a block.
It doesn't hammer your site
One request per sale page on a scheduled interval, with a timeout. We prefer your structured data (Shopify JSON, JSON-LD) precisely because it is one cheap request instead of crawling a catalogue.
It doesn't take content or accounts
Prices, availability, product names and images for attribution. No article text, no logins, no checkout, no personal data, and nothing behind an account wall.
If you block it, it stays blocked
A 403 is treated as a decision, not an obstacle. Brands that refuse automated access are marked unreadable and removed from our public directory rather than worked around.
How to block it
Add this to your robots.txt and we'll stop within 24 hours (our cache window):
