RUCK POST
The Honest Gear Dispatch For The Man Who Buys It Once.

The dispatch
First post. Kinda nervous. Here's the deal: one great jacket at an honest half-off, five things I'd actually buy, and a "sale" that's really a factory second. No fake MSRPs, no shilling — no affiliate links, just raw savings.

We store, track, and analyze price data from hundreds of direct retailers to find the true sale prices. We're just starting off, so everything's fresh — the older we get, the better the deal tracking becomes. Let us know what you think, and check out the website for the full story.
This week's best deal
Filson Mackinaw Wool Caped JacketGood Price
MSRP$650
Today$325
With code OUTLET15$276.25
NoteOUTLET15 stacks at checkout (verified). Limited holiday run — confirm before you buy.
Virgin Mackinaw wool with a waxed-cotton caped shoulder, a cut barely changed since 1914 — warm enough to work in all winter. A limited-edition holiday run at half off. Filson rarely runs the Mackinaw at half off, which is exactly what makes $325 worth flagging.
The shortlist

Hand-sewn in Maine, resoleable, rebuildable — buy-it-once, and 40% off.

Rechargeable, 2,800 lumens, 23% off. The free engraving and keychain light are extras — the light itself is why it's here.
Deal autopsy
The "57% off" that's a factory secondMisleading Comparison
Here's a real one: Roundhouse's American-made stripe bib overalls, marked 57% off — $30 from a $70 comparison price. The catch isn't hidden — it's right in the title: IRREGULAR. SECOND. NO RETURNS. That may still be a fair buy; $30 for a made-in-USA overall with a minor flaw can be worth it. But a factory second isn't the same product as the first-quality pair that $70 is based on — so "57% off" isn't a clean, apples-to-apples markdown. The defect is disclosed; the comparison is the problem. The tell: scan the title for SECOND, IRREGULAR, or BLEM to check condition, and FINAL SALE or NO RETURNS to check your recourse. Then go look and decide for yourself — that's your call, not the retailer's.
P.S.  If this was useful, forward it to the one buddy who still buys good boots and hates getting ripped off. That's how this grows. — RP
